Second Annual Nature Photography Contest Rules

Description: The West Wisconsin Land Trust Nature Photography Contest is a competition intended to solicit outstanding examples of amateur photography that utilizes the great outdoors as the photographer's canvas. Through the medium of photography, WWLT hopes to educate its public about both the beauty and the necessity of conserving the rural character of our natural landscape.

Regulations: The WWLT Nature Photography Contest will begin accepting entries on October 25, 2004. The last day for entries will be December 1, 2004. Photographers may submit up to three (3) images for the duration of the contest. All entries submitted become the property of West Wisconsin Land Trust and will not be returned. By entering the contest each entrant gives WWLT permission to use any entry for publicity purposes, however, the entrants will retain copyright(s) to their submission(s).

Prize Selection: ONE prizewinner will be selected from all entries submitted. The selection of the winner will be determined by the contest judges whose decision, unless otherwise noted, are final.

Eligibility: The West Wisconsin Land Trust Nature Photography Contest is open to amateur photographers only. For the purposes of this contest "amateur" is defined as receiving no percentage of one's income from photography. Failure to adhere to this rule may result in disqualification. Staff, board members, and immediate relatives of West Wisconsin Land Trust employees are not eligible for this contest.

Rules: Images submitted can include any subject(s) photographed in the outdoors including images of landscapes, plant life, wildlife, pets, people, and incidental man-made outdoor structures such as canoes, duck blinds, etc. Discovery of any apparent cruel and/or unethical practices used to obtain an image will disqualify the submission. Digital manipulations are not eligible. Preference will be given to photos taken in WWLT's 17-county region.

Submission requirements: Submissions may be color or black & white prints no larger than 8"x10" and do not have to be matted. Matted prints are discouraged. NO GLASS OR FRAMED IMAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED. All entries become the property of West Wisconsin Land Trust and will not be returned.

Submission Information: Each submission must have the following information attached to or written on the entry: First and last name of photographer; address; phone number(s); e-mail; & photograph description & location.

WWLT is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail. Please do not contact WWLT to find out if your submission has been received. You will be contacted only if you are a prizewinner.

Contest prizes

Grand Prize: The winning entry will be featured on the home page of the West Wisconsin Land Trust website: www.wwlt.org and will also appear in the Spring issue of our Open Spaces newsletter. The winner will also receive a $50 cash prize.

APPLICATION

1. YOU MUST COMPLETE, SIGN, AND SUBMIT THIS APPLICATION WITH YOUR ENTRY.

2. YOU MUST CLEARLY PRINT your name, address, and description on each print.

3. Place prints in a protective envelope and mail or bring all entries with application to: West Wisconsin Land Trust, 500 East Main Street, Suite 307, Menomonie, WI 54751. We are located on the 3rd floor of the M&I Bank building in downtown Menomonie.

4. Winner will be notified by phone. Images will be judged on overall photographic and artistic quality.

DEADLINE: All entries must be in the WWLT office by Noon on Wednesday, December 1, 2004.
