Sharing our commitment to protect and preserve the natural environment in western Wisconsin is a foundation upon which we were built. Within this context, there is great opportunity for West Wisconsin Land Trust to work collaboratively with our conservation colleagues. We share the same geography and in some cases have the same priorities.
Across the state line, there are several other land trust neighbors operating in the Upper Mississippi River with whom we cooperate. These include Minnesota Land Trust, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Jo Davies Conservation Foundation, Illinois Natural Land Institute, and Mississippi Valley Conservancy, mentioned above. Working with public resource agencies, national conservation groups, and national and local sportsmen organizations has proved to be an effective way to protect land.
Blufflands Alliance: A collaboration of six land trusts in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, the Blufflands Alliance partners work together to conserve the beautiful bluffs of the Upper Mississippi River
Gathering Waters Conservancy: As a statewide coalition and service center for Wisconsin’s growing land trust community, Gathering Waters Conservancy’s goals are to increase the professionalism and build the capacity of the state’s private, non-profit conservation organizations through technical assistance, training and continuing education.
Land Trust Alliance: The Land Trust Alliance promotes voluntary private land conservation to benefit communities and natural systems. LTA is the national convener, strategist and representative of more than 1,500 land trusts across America.
